We are a traditional style bluegrass band based out of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. We formed the group in the spring of 2008 after a series of closed jam sessions turned into a desire to go out and play music for the public. The name Blue Rose comes from a song recorded by Pam Tillis titled "Blue Rose Is"; ironically, it is not a song that we perform.
We decided from the beginning that while we were not going to play all gospel music, we were not going to sing songs with bad meanings and we were not going to play anywhere that you couldn't take your family. We want to have a good tyme and enjoy what we do, but most of all, we want to honor the Lord with the gifts and talents He's given us.
As far as our style goes, we play a wide variety of songs, including some originals, and we try to maintain a traditional sound. We love the hard drivin' banjo tunes, the soulful ballads and the funny songs. We're currently working on our schedule, so if you're looking for a band like us, give us a call or drop us a line.
